What is Regulation4(1)a, and Who are NSF?

Regulation 4(1)a is a regulatory requirement from Water Regs UK, that ensures that companies that produce or sell water tanks, pumps and so on, are safe to be used in systems designed for human consumption and other sensitive applications. All materials and fittings are put through rigorous testing to ensure that they are safe, effective and in compliance with the rules laid out within the regulations.

In order to comply with Regulation 4(1)a, companies must demonstrate that they have implemented appropriate quality management systems and that they have adequate controls in place to ensure the safety of their products.

NSF International is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that provides public health and safety risk management solutions. Founded in 1944, NSF is known mostly for their role in product testing, and certification services in a variety of industries, including water. NSF is one of many organisations a company can choose from when they are looking to become certified to Regulation 4(1)a.

NSF’s certification services can help companies demonstrate compliance with Regulation 4(1)a by verifying that their products have been independently tested and meet all relevant standards and regulations. NSF can also provide guidance on quality management systems and help companies develop and implement effective controls to ensure the safety of their products.

A Totally Internally Flanged Water (TIF) tank is a type of water storage tank that is specifically designed to maximise storage capacity, when space is limited.

Unlike other Internally flanged water tank designs on the market, the Dewey Waters True TIF tank design has no base to side joints, or external corner joints. This means that our TIF range can be built entirely from the inside, which not only allows you to store more water, but frees up valuable plantroom space that would otherwise be required for installation and future maintenance. In addition to the beneficial space saving design, our true TIF is also ideal for external applications as the fixings are not exposed to the elements or corrosive materials such as sea spray. This makes our totally internally flanged tanks the ideal choice for both internal and external applications.

Our TIF tanks also offer greater flexibility as you can customise your tank length & width in a variety of sizes – in comparison to other systems which only offer the option of 500mm and 1000mm increments, you also have the option of 250mm & 750mm lateral increments and 100mm height increments up to 3m. Making them ideal for those oddly shaped areas and in addition to that, they can be designed in C, L & T shaped configurations to fit between pillars and around corners.
