KIWA Approval and Sectional Tanks

It has become increasingly important within the industry to provide customers with high quality water storage solutions, and being Regulation 4(1)a certified ensures we continue to update our products and services to deliver the best water storage solutions in the market. This is the case especially for water tanks used to safely store water for human consumption.

This is why all of our products at Dewey Waters are certified to Regulation 4(1)a, through various regulatory agencies. Regulation 4(1)a may seem like a new standard but it is an existing part of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999. It has recently started being cited as WRAS Approval is no longer a stand-alone approval. Through KIWA, our Sectional Hot Press Tanks are certified to Regulation 4(1)a, making them a great choice for your water storage.

What is KIWA Approval?

KIWA is a leading testing, inspection and certification organisation, operating in over 40 countries worldwide. Their primary aim is to help businesses and organisations to ensure that their products and services meet the relevant quality, safety and environmental standards.

In the UK, KIWA has been appointed by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs as an Approved Contractor for Water Fittings Regulations and Scottish Water Byelaws. This means that they are authorised to carry out testing, inspection and certification of plumbing systems to ensure that they comply with the relevant regulations. In terms of water regulations, KIWA are one of many companies that test and certify for Water Regs UK Regulation 4(1)a.

Regulation 4(1)a is a specific requirement of Water Regulations which states that every water fitting used within the application should be of an appropriate quality and standard. It ensures that components of water tanks, and plumbing systems, have been tested carefully multiple times to make certain that they are fully compliant with the set of criteria laid out within the regulations. Once a water product has been certified to Regulation 4(1)a through their chosen regulatory body, the water stored within these products is certified as safe for human consumption and other sensitive applications.

GRP Hot Press Sectional Tanks

At Dewey Waters, our GRP Sectional Hot Press water tanks are compliant to Regulation 4(1)a, through KIWA. Our sectional tanks come in a range of sizes, which can be tailored to suit your individual water requirements. Our sectional water tanks can be used for both potable and non-potable water and are suited for internal and external applications as they are capable of withstanding extreme weather conditions. These tanks can come insulated – with a standard 38mm insulation thickness, which can be increased to 50mm depending on your given need – or uninsulated (which is used for storing water for non-wholesome applications).

Our tanks are also available with an externally flanged base and sides (EFB), or internally flanged base with externally flanged sides (IFB). We also offer our customers the choice of a Totally Internally Flanged sectional tank, which is a separate product that we offer for those with limited space in their plantroom. All of our sectional tanks can be provided with a screened vent, which allows for ventilation, an access hatch for maintenance, raised float valve housing to allow for you to increase the useable water volume, along with tank divisions, ladders and other connections and valves.

Our sectional tanks will be delivered to you at site, and assembled by our experienced site crews, at a date that is convenient for you. We aim to provide you with a total, complete sectional tank solution for your project – and you can rest assured that our Sectional Hot Press water tanks are KIWA certified to Regulation 4(1)a, complying to the highest water regulations standards.
